Microsoft Power BI is a unified, scalable, easy to use business intelligence platform which transform data in relevant information. The information then can be use in order to create reports and dashboards in self-service or as an enterprise.
Microsoft Power BI is very flexible and can work with every file type and all sort of sources (XLS files, CSV, database SQL Server, pictures, videos, …) Power BI allow you to centralise and put in relation reports and dashboards that are easy-to-use and shareable.
The power BI Suite consists of a desktop application called Power BI Desktop which is used for the creation of reports, an online cloud service called Service Power BI to facilitate communication and dashboard sharing as well as Power BI Mobile application available on phones, tablets and most exploitation systems to ease the monitoring of your data.
The suite allows a fluid workflow with a logic order.:
- Starting with Power BI Desktop, you can create connections to the data sources.
- Then, you will be able to prepare your dataset and start the modelization of those data. After that you will be able to create and personalise the reports.
- The next step of the workflow is publishing reports in Service Power Bi, then the creation of dashboards.
- Finally, you will be able to share and consult those dashboards with your co-workers thanks to Power BI Mobile.
